Paul Comes to Washington

Like I said, a few weeks ago, right when we got back from California, Paul came to visit us!  He got here really late at night, after Mom and I were already asleep.  The next day, while my mom was at work, Paul went to go get us a rental car.  When Mom got home, we got in the car and drove to North Carolina!

It was raining and thunderstorming the whole way to Durham.  And our car didn't have any air conditioning!  We had do drive with the windows down so that the windshield wouldn't fog up.  I liked that, except that we got really wet when I put my head out the window!

When we finally got to Durham, I met a new friend!

This is Malika, and she belongs to Paul's sister Joanne.  Malika was born in Africa, and then she lived in India for two years before she moved to North Carolina!  We got along really well, but we didn't play very much because there was a big dog that lived in that house.  Also, there was a really scary cat.

We had a fun weekend with Malika and Joanne.  Before we came back, we changed cars so that we could have air conditioning this time.  I kept trying to open the window so I could stick my head out, but Paul locked them so I would stop.

The next week, I was so happy!  Paul stayed at home with me in the mornings after my mom went to work.  We went on runs and played together.  It was so much fun!

Mom and Paul also did some fun things together.  On his birthday, they took a bus tour of the city.

They saw the capitol building...

The National Mall...

The Smithsonian Castle...

The Jefferson Memorial...

The FDR Memorial...

And the new Martin Luther King Memorial!

When the week was over, we got another rental car and drove out to Shenandoah National Park.  I loved Shenandoah!

We drove around to see all the leaves changing color.  It was really pretty.  I liked to get out of the car and smell everything.

But it was freezing outside!  Mom says she's going to buy me a sweater this week.  I don't know how I feel about that...

After Shenandoah, I was soooooo tired.

I didn't even notice when my mom spilled her Pumpkin Spice Latte on me!  I just thought I had some new spots!

After Paul left, my mom went to the farmer's market and then took a painting class!

She had a lot of fun and hung the painting in our living room when she got home.

I miss Paul.  It was fun to have someone to stay home with in the mornings and to go on runs with while my mom was at work.  Mom and I are just getting back into our normal schedules now.  She says I get to go to daycare tomorrow.  And I can't wait for the rest of my pack to come visit us at Thanksgiving!

  1. Boy oh boy you are learning to pose like the rest of the family. You have been a busy Puppy doing errands, going for walks and sight-seeing. I'm sure that when your Mom goes to work and school you sleep all day. You had better rest up because it won't be too long before you will have a whole house full of company. Did you like your new friend Malika? How would you like to fly on an airplane for 20 plus hours like Malika did? That's not fun. It took us 32 hours to get home from South Africa. Be a good girl and leave the pillows alone. Love ya
