California Dreamin'

I know it's been a long time since I've written.

But it's not my fault.

My mom dragged me all the way to California this weekend!  I'm so confused!

Mom had some interviews and then she went to the UCLA football game (she didn't get the job, but was more depressed about the Bruins).

It was really tiring.  We had to wake up at 3 in the morning and I had to get back into my little bag.  We drove to the airport and then flew to the dog park in Denver again.  I got lots of treats with without doing tricks again.  I felt really sleepy the whole time.

We left the dog park and barely made our plane to LA.  When we landed in LA, my great Gramy and Papa picked us up from the airport.  First, we drove around and got to see where my great Papa grew up and the place where his dad's store used to be.  That was fun!  Then, we drove all the way to downtown LA.  Mom took a shower at the place she worked this summer and then we drove her to her first interview.

After the interview, we drove back to Cypress!  I was so excited to see my pack!  But I was also really tired.  I think Mom was tired too.  We went to bed at 8 o'clock.

On Friday, Mom had another interview and then we drove up to LA.  It was Paul's birthday, so my mom went out to dinner with her friends while I caught up on my sleep.

On Saturday, Mom went to the football game, like I said and on Sunday, I got to see my pack again!

Monday, Mom and Paul went to the Ronald Regan Library.  They said they had a lot of fun there.

Paul makes a great President!

They even got to go inside Air Force One!!

But the best part of the weekend was when I got to see my best friends Charlie and Audrey!!  I was so happy!  We played and played and played!

Today, I did NOT want to get out of bed.  My mom woke up at 6 to go to work, but I stayed in bed until 7 when she made me get up.  I went to daycare and sat on my chair.

Then I had a bath.

My Little Piece of Heaven

We finally found a place where we can play fetch!!

Yesterday, when my mom and I were on our walk, we came across this park only two blocks from our house.  It's a big open field surrounded by trees.  It's not a dog park, and I'm supposed to be on a leash there, but it's completely empty so Mom said I could play fetch!

I've never been so happy in my whole life!  I haven't gotten to play fetch at all since moving to Washington DC.  I can't play at home because of Jafar.  I can't play at dog park because it's too small and I'm too afraid of the other dogs.  I can't play at daycare because no balls are allowed.  But I can play at my new park!

Mom says I have to keep my leash dangling behind me when I play, but that's okay.  I barely noticed it because I was so happy!

It was way too soon when Mom said it was time to leave the park.  It was starting to get dark and she didn't want to be there by herself after the sun went down.  That's okay, because she says we can come back almost every single day!

By the time we got home, I was so tired that my tongue was hanging out the side of my mouth.  I can't wait to go back tomorrow!

September 11

Being in Washington DC for the anniversary of September 11 is a lot different than being in LA.  People here remember the attacks on the Pentagon and many of them were in New York or Washington when they happened.  Security is extra tight today because of a terrorist threat.  There are police officers on every single corner!

Mom and I tried not to be scared and to just have a normal Sunday.  We went to the farmer's market, but a lady that worked there said that dogs weren't allowed!  They are allowed at every single farmer's market except ours.  I don't think that's very fair.

After the farmer's market, Mom went to a DC Nationals baseball game with her friends.

They had specially decorated the field for September 11 and had tributes between every inning.

The Washington Nationals have the Presidents (Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson and Roosevelt) run a race around the field every game!  George Washington won.

Mom and her friends got their picture taken with Abe Lincoln!

After the game, they walked around the Adams Morgan Day Festival.  About this time, I was getting lonely and my mom knew it, so she came home and hung out with me!

September 11 came and went without any danger to us.  Thanks to our family and friends for your prayers.

Lazy Saturday

Today Mom and I went on a long walk to the National Mall.  We walked all around and Mom took lots of pictures.

Finally, we stopped at a bench under some trees where I could play in the grass.

Mom packed herself a lunch and read in the shadow of the Monument.

On the way back, we stopped by the White House to take some pictures.  There were so many police officers!  I didn't know Washington DC had so many police officers!  They were being extra careful because it was the day before the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.

After our walk, we stayed at home and were lazy.  Mom went to the movies while I took a nap.  What a good Saturday.

Rain, Rain, Go Away

It's still raining!  Apparently there's another tropical storm up here, but this one isn't quite as big as Hurricane Irene.  Hello Tropical Storm Lee!!

I was getting fed up with being stuck inside all day, so I knocked all the pillows on the floor and ate some Q-tips while Mom was at work.  When she got home, she could tell I had cabin fever and took me on a short walk.  I hated it!!!  I would rather be stuck inside forever than be wet!  This is what I did when we got home.

So I chewed on my bully instead of getting into more mischeif.  At least Mom is stuck inside with me!

My mom is sure getting good use out of her rainboots, trench coat, and umbrella!

We thought fall in DC was supposed to be nice and the bad weather wasn't supposed to come until winter!

The Worst Day Ever??

First of all, it's pouring rain here!  I didn't get to go on a walk and every time I go outside, I get soaked!

Second of all,  I couldn't go to daycare because of my cough. Then, Mom made a mistake and forgot that it was Wednesday.  She's supposed to leave work an hour early on Wednesdays to see me before she goes to class, but she forgot!  So Mom got home and then had to leave right away!  I cried when she left because I didn't want to stay home alone anymore.

When Mom finally got home from class, she was soaking wet!  She told me that she had to take a taxi to class because she was running late. She left her umbrella at home and had to walk half a mile home in the pouring rain!  She also told me that her computer at work broke today and it took them five and a half hours to fix it.  She finished her book and got really bored.
I guess Mom had a pretty bad day today too.  I forgive her.  She gave me my medicine and a treat and now we're cuddling on my second favorite chair.  Today had a pretty good ending after all.

My Kennel Cough

Last night, I could barely sleep because of my cough.  When we woke up, I was just coughing and coughing all morning!  Mom decided to go to work late and take me to the vet.  I wasn't so sure about her at first, but she was a very nice lady.  She told my mom that I probably had kennel cough.  My mom read on the Internet that sometimes that doggies that travel and have big life changes can get sick.

The nice vet gave me some medicine and said that I should be better soon.  I like taking my medicine because my mom always gives it to me with a treat!  I don't get to go to daycare this Wednesday, but that's okay.  I need to get my rest.

Mom Goes to New York

This weekend, my mom went to New York to visit her friend Cailin.  Cailin and Mom were good friends in college, but Cailin is going to school in England now, so they hardly ever get to see each other.  Cailin is moving back to England soon, so Mom knew that she had to go this weekend to visit.

Mom to the DC2NY bus.  It was four and a half hours long and she got to watch Tron!  She finally arrived in New York and Cailin was there waiting for her.  After they went back to her apartment to freshen up, they went out to explore the city.

They visiting the Irish Potato Famine Memorial and saw where the Freedom tower is being built as part of the 9/11 Memorial.

That night, they went to High Line Park.  It is a really cool park that they built on old railroad tracks, built high above the sidewalks.

The park is really long and narrow, so they walked along it for a long time, looking at all the plants and the views.  Mom tried to take pictures, but she doesn't have a tripod, so not many of them came out right.

The next morning, Mom and Cailin went to breakfast at Community Food and Juice.  They both had delicious Brioche French Toast.

Later that day, they took the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty!  They didn't actually visit or tour the Statute though, just drove by it and took pictures.  Mom said that that's the closest she's ever seen it.

After the ferry, they went to Magnolia Bakery.  This is the bakery that started the cupcake craze!  They both had a chocolate cupcake with vanilla buttercream frosting.  Yum!

After the bakery (and a little shopping in SoHo to work it off), it was time for Cailin to move, so she and  mom moved her stuff from Manhattan to Brooklyn.  Then they ordered a pizza and ate it on the rooftop of her new apartment.

In the morning, Mom had to leave early to catch the DC2NY bus back home to pick me up.  But when she got to the subway, the train wasn't coming!  She had to wait half and hour for her train to come and almost missed her bus!  She ran up to the bus as the driver was closing the door!  On the way back, she didn't get to watch any movies and just took a nap and read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

When she got back, I was so happy to see her!  I jumped up on her lap and licked her face all over!
I rubbed myself all over my favorite chair too, so it would smell like me again.

Mom says she likes DC better than NY.  She said it was crowded and hot and muggy there.  That's good because I'm finally getting used to living here.  I don't want to move again already!

I Got Kennel Cough :-(

I got sick at daycare this weekend, so I'm too tired to write.  I hope this cough goes away soon.

Mom can't wait to tell you all about New York tomorrow!

Friday, September 2, 2011

It's Friday!

Not a lot to say today... No pictures either.  Mom and I are hanging out tonight because tomorrow morning, she's going to New York to visit some of her friends.  I'm going to daycare for two days and two nights!

On Monday, I'll post all about how my weekend at daycare was.  Oh yeah, I'll let my mom post some of her New York pictures too :-)

P.S. Now that you know what our weeks are like, I'm not going to post every day.  I'll only post when something interesting happens because I don't think you want to hear about how I nap every day while Mom's at work.

Dog Park Again

Today Mom went to work again. She said she actually had some stuff to do today!

I didn't go to daycare.  I was glad because I was tired again.  I'm always so tired in Washington DC!

After my mom got home from work, she took me to the dog park.

I still wasn't too sure about the other dogs there.

I did meet some that I liked though.

I even played for a little while with this puppy that was just my size!!

But mostly I just stood by the gate so my mom would know that I wanted to go home.

Maybe someday I'll like the dog park more, but right now, I'm just not too sure about these east coast dogs.

Right now, I'd just rather be at home with feetie ball.
